It retains moisture, improves contact between the electrode and the soil, and works even in rocky, sandy or high-resistivity ground where ordinary soil fails to give a good earth. The compound is non-toxic, chemically stable and does not leach away, delivering maintenance-free performance for years. Approximately 50 kg (two 25 kg bags) is recommended per earth pit.
