JiGO NP7 PHASE SWITCH Protection Meter
The NP7 is an electronic phase switch — a DIN rail unit that takes all three phases of a supply and automatically feeds a single-phase load from whichever phase is healthy, switching over by itself when one fails.
In most of India a three-phase connection does not mean three reliable phases. One goes missing, another sits low, and the single-phase load wired to it stops. The NP7 removes that dependency: all three phases come in, the unit picks a good one, and the load runs. When that phase fails or drifts out of limits, the unit transfers the load to another healthy phase automatically.
How the NP7 works
- Three-phase input, single-phase output — terminals marked N, L1, L2 and L3 on the incoming side, with the load fed from whichever phase is selected
- Automatic selection — the unit monitors all three phases and transfers to a healthy one when the one in use fails or goes out of limits
- Per-phase display — a red LED display for each phase, so all three voltages are visible at once and a failing phase is obvious
- Break before make — only one phase is ever connected to the load, so there is no possibility of a phase-to-phase fault through the unit
Having all three phase voltages on display is useful in its own right. Imbalance that nobody has noticed shows up immediately, and so does the pattern of which phase drops at which time of day — information that is otherwise only available by standing in front of the board with a meter.
Connection and selection
Feed all three phases and the neutral into the top of the unit and take the single-phase load off the output. Each incoming phase still needs its own protection upstream, and the outgoing circuit still needs its own MCB. The NP7 is used in homes, shops, clinics and small offices on three-phase connections where the single-phase load must keep running through a phase failure, and in telecom, lift and pump installations where downtime is expensive.
- It does not balance the supply. The NP7 keeps a single-phase load running; it does not spread load across phases. For balancing, the loads have to be distributed at the board.
- Size it to the load: the whole single-phase load passes through the unit. Tell us the current and whether it includes motor starting, and we will confirm the rating.
- Larger version available: the JG-NP7-CO 100 A changeover covers higher currents.
